Oracle 2 was the first commercially available version of the Oracle database and also the first relational database on the market to use SQL.

Status: No longer supported.

Features introduced[edit]

The following new features were introduced with Oracle 2:

  • First public release
  • Basic SQL functionality, queries and joins
  • CONNECT BY queries
  • Written in pdp-11 assembly language, ran on vax/vms in compatibility mode
